Nuvaring concern

I've been reading up on nuvaring and am going to try it next month after my annual exam. Couple of questions. Can your SO feel it at all when you're having sex? And does anyone have a problem with it moving around or coming out during sex? I have this fear of it getting lodged up in my uterus somehow after sex, so I'm just curious how it stays in place.

Also, has anyone noticed any problems as far as discharge on it?

thanks!

My husband hasn't really commented that he can feel it, but there is a definite increase in vaginal discharge while using it. I have a problem with it "peeking" out all the time, so I'm not afraid of it getting lost in my uterus. If it does fall out you are still covered, as long as it isn't out for more than 3 hours. Good Luck!

Hi nikkise, welcome back!

There is no possibility of NuvaRing getting lost in your vagina and it can not get into your uterus. If it is pushed deeper during IC it will move down again later. It is held in place by the spring action of the flexible two inch diameter ring against the vaginal walls. Some members have reported that their partners felt the ring but it usually didn't bother them. For the few it did bother, some removed the ring during IC. It can be safely removed for up to 3 hours at a time... just don't forget to reinsert. There have also been a few reports of the ring being pulled out during withdrawal. If that happens just reinsert. Let us know how you like NuvaRing, ok?

Good luck,

I have had the NuvaRing for a month, and I absolutely love it. My husband says he can feel it every once in a while, but he thinks it feels kind of cool. I have not had any problems with it staying in place, I check from time to time and it's always right where it is supposed to be.

Good Luck,

Thanks for remembering me! Yes, I've been debating this for a while. I am just so bad at remembering to take BCP's on time, this seems like a much better method. And I was comparing the hormones to BCP's and it looks like the ring has a lot less estrogen than a bcp, so I'm wondering if that means less mood swings, better sex drive, etc, as compared to bcp's.

Thanks so much for the information!
