ok when i started ortho evra i got a list of things to avoid one of whitch was vitiman c and acetaminophen, and caffeine and several other things does anyone know if i should still avoide these things while on nuva ring im sitting here reading the papers that came with my nuva ring but it doesent say anything about posible interactions. I know alot of you ladies have been on the ring for a long time so i though you all might know what should be avoided. also im taking evening primrose oil for my ezcma and a multi vitiam. any help would be great thanks a buntch.

Hi Julie,

I don't know how it works so I think I would be careful about evening primrose oil, not just for NuvaRing but hormonal contraceptives in general. It's something you can ask your pharmacist about. Regular multivitamins shouldn't be a problem. Let us know how you like NuvaRing, ok?

Good luck,

Another possible interaction problem is the herb St. John's wort. If you ever take that, it can reduce the effectiveness of hormonal birth control.

iv never taken St. John's wort i know that that can cause bc to be less effective. i try not to tak too many things i stick with a multi vitiam a folic acid the evening primrose (only when my exzma is acting up) thanks again though. Im really carfeul about what i take because i dont want to cause any problems. thats why i was asking about the vitiam c and the acetaminophen. thanks julie
