Errin pills and breastfeeding

My gyno put me on Errin b/c I was breastfeeding. He said if I stop nursing, to switch pills immediately b/c they won't be as effective. I'm currently only nursing twice a day, sometimes once a day. Should I continue taking this kind of pill and if so are they as effective?
thanks
Leslie

Errin is a progestin-only-pill (POP) and without the Lactational Amenorrhea brought about by BFing a POP is only about 50% effective in suppressing ovulation. I think if your baby is moving from nursing to solid foods you might want to switch to another pill. It would probably be a good idea to talk with your doctor and see what he says. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
