Sore Left Breast BCP Related??

Good Evening!

Last Saturday night I was in a wedding wearing a strapless dress. I was in a very uncomfortable strapless bra (keep in mind I'm a 38D). The next day the upper part of my left breast was sore. I blamed part of it on my uncomfortable bra and part to my BCP. I will tell you my left breast is larger than my right and I can tell this only when they swell. (I know TMI) I do from time to time get sore breasts (both breasts) while on my pill. This time it's only one. It went away by Tuesday but is back now if a different part of my breast. I didn't do my monthly exam around my normal time this month I just forgot. I've checked both breasts and can't find any sort of lumps. The pain is worse tonight (was fine all day) I am the end of week 2 on my pills. Tri-Sprintec (generic of Ortho-Tri Cyclen). It's not a sharp pain or anything just kind of annoying. I'm thinking it's BCP related but not sure.

Anyone else experience only one swollen or sore breast from their BCPS???

Thanks!

Hi mapstangelo, welcome!

I can't explain your symptoms being in only one breast unless perhaps your bra really, really pinched or you have cysts. Are you consuming more caffeine; sodas, chocolate, coffee or more salty snacks? That can lead to swelling and tenderness. Where I am in my cycle will also affect the sensitivity of my breasts. I hope you're feeling better soon. Thanks for posting.

Take care,

Hi Jill!

No I have not been consuming more chocolate or coffee lately. I may after Halloween though? Depends on how many trick or treaters we get. Just Kidding :)

I did take 2 Extra Strength Tylenol at 7:15 PM tonight and it's now 8:50 and the pain is gone. Does that mean I have cysts? Would I have able to feel a bump or lump? I'm scheduled for my annual exam with my ob on 12/6 so I can talk with her then. But if the pain persists or gets worse next week I'll be calling sooner.

Thanks!

I think that's a good idea--it's pretty unusual to have only one breast be sore. My mom's rule of thumb is that if something bothers you for three days and isn't getting any better, it's time to call the doctor. She might be right here too! There are probably a number of benign (noncancerous) reasons that your breast might hurt, that you didn't find any hard spots is good.

Take care of yourself!
