Vaginal Suppositories & Nuvaring?

Another Nuvaring question! :)

I frequently use vaginal suppositories to treat yeast infections (a fun side effect of the pill I'm currently on). They are herbal/natural remedies and work very well. The ingredients include: Boric acid, oregon grape root and calendula. I also use tea tree oil from time to time.

Are these still ok to use with the Nuvaring? I have found most doctors do not know much about these types of things. I used them with no adverse effects with my last BCP. But since Nuvaring is in the vagina...I wasn't sure.

Any help would be appreciated!

If the yeast infections are a product of the BC you`re on now, hopefully you won`t have this problem when you switch to Nuvaring! But if you do, maybe you should check with your pharmacist or doctor before using the remedy. Sorry I`m not very helpful on this but I think it`s probably a good idea to check with a professional than to have to worry!

As far as I know, the ring has not been tested with boric acid suppositories. It has been tested with a more conventional medication, but I think I'd be leery of using something with the ring that it hadn't been tested with, particularly an acid-based remedy.

It may be that you won't need it! Frequent yeast infections aren't supposed to be a fact of life....I think I'd rather eliminate the source if I could rather than keep treating the problem, but that's just me and some of us are more easily treated than others.

Good luck!
