Finally decided last week to go ahead and get an IUD. Thanks for everybody's help in directing me to current research to get the full story.

Well, I'm going in 1 hour for my insertion...Because of my cycle and timing of the next 2 cycles probably being in the holiday times, the nurse told me this morning they'd work me in today...so I just found out!!

I'm a bit nervous...but really excited to have this issue under control:)

Hi sandy!

Good for you! You might want to take a couple Ibuprofen caps before you go. Let us know how the insertion goes, ok? GOOD LUCK!

Hello,

By now you're probably home from the dr's. How did it go? How are you feeling? Hope everything is ok for you.

Just have one quick question... what does PTL stand for?

I'm home (actually about an hour ago)...It was WONDERFUL!! Well, maybe not wonderful, but since I have been stewing so long on the bc issue I feel such relief...I left there feeling so happy...ready to celebrate!! I could feel them doing it, but it was really not much more uncomfortable than a pap...at least for me. I guess I feel a bit like crampy down there now...but nothing worse than a monthly or something at least so far for me.

Thanks all for putting up with this old lady who still just can't get enough foolin' around...you've all been so kind to let me hang on your board during this time:)

I`m really glad it went so well for you! I would LOVE an IUD but since I`m only 18 (despite being in a monogamous relationship and not planning to have kids until I get my advanced degrees) they won`t consider letting me have one now. Pffft on them! :)

But yay for you! Let us know how you like it in the coming months!

Cheers!

Sandy,

I'm glad your experience went well. I had my IUD put in back in May and except for the first AF after insertion all the rest have been fairly normal. I was a tiny bit crampy after the insertion too, but that went away within hours. I was feeling well enough for IC that same night. I just love my IUD, the feeling of power it gives me over my body and being able to have IC whenever I want without any worries. I hope you're as happy with your IUD in the months and years to come as I have been with mine. I do have one favor to ask, if it's not to much... My SO can feel the string during IC and he really enjoys feeling it, knowing it's there. I was wondering, hoping you could tell me your husbands experience with the string once you guys "break it in". If it's too personal, I understand... or you can email me directly if you like. Again, enjoy your new freedom.

Jenn

Congrats on gettig your IUD! I am glad to hear everything went well and you are feeling fine.

I've had my copper IUD almost 2 months now and I am loving not having to worry about anything!

My first period was quite a bit heavier than I was used to. And now.. I should have started my period on Friday or Saturday the latest..and well, it still isn't here. No worries.. just wondering when it will show up.. I hate the waiting game because the worst thing is having my period start when I am on the bus going to or from work or somewhere where I can't immediately get to the bathroom. ARGH! Hopefully it comes soon though.

Well, it has been officially broken in Jenn ...

DH could not feel anything but he was Ok with the idea he might. Actually my concern (as I posted this morning) is finding the strings at all.

Thanks for asking. I am so glad this place exists as I find many of my peers are not able to discuss these topics. Not sure if it an age thing or if that is just a "most women" thing. I am not *good* at discussing these things, but I want to be.
