Switching Birth Control Pills

Hello! I am 35 years old and have been on the pill consecutively for 18 years; I've never taken a break from the pill although I have changed pill brands a few times. I have been on Mircet for approximately 5 years and I'm changing to Seasonale after my next cycle. Do I need to use a back up form of birth control transitioning to Seasonale? My gyno said no, I will be ok going straight from one pill to the other, but I want a second opinion since Seasonale is different from the typical 28 day regimen. Thanks for the help!

Hi ladylegal1969, welcome!

Seasonale is the same formulation of hormones as Nordette, just a different mfg. and 84/7 packaging rather than 21/7. If you have been taking Mircette correctly you should be protected and not need back-up, but do whatever you're comfortable with. Some women always use back-up during a pill switch, just for peace of mind. Let us know how you like Seasonale, ok?

Good luck,

Thanks for the information and for the quick response! I will let you know how Seasonale is working for me. And, thank you for the message boards; what a valuable source of information for women. You should be proud of the work you are doing here!
