I was on Micronor for the past 2 years. I just switched to Mircette. I was in the middle of my Micronor pack when I just stared taking the Mircette pills. Should I use back up for the next week or am I protected since I was on Micronor?

Thanks for your help!

Hi boosclues,

If I were you I would definitely use back-up! Micronor, a progestin-only-pill is only effective in suppressing ovulation about 50% of the time and you loose its production very shortly after you stop taking it. Mircette, a combined (estrogen/progestin) pill takes 7 days of correct use to become effective unless begun on the first day of your period, so during the switch I think there is a good chance you will be at risk until you have built up your protection by taking Mircette correctly for at least 7 days. Let us know how you like Mircette, ok?

Good luck,
