I'm on the birth control patch and i had sex with my boyfriend and we didn't use any condoms and on the week I'm not suppose to be on the patch I haven't had my period. Am I pregnate?

How long have you been on the patch? If you just started it you should have used back-up for at least the first 7 days as it takes that long for the hormones to build to an effective level of protection. This board recommends that back-up be used the entire first cycle so that you can get used to the changes in your cycle and period without having any "am I pregnant?" concerns. It usually takes about 3 cycles for your body to adjust to the hormones in your patch and for Aunt Flo to decide what her schedule will be. If this is your first hormone free week since starting the patch it typically takes 2 to 5 days for AF to appear but it could be a shorter or longer interval. If your period doesn't show by the time you are scheduled to apply the first patch of the next cycle be sure to apply the patch on time. You should go no more than 7 24-hour days without hormones for your protection to remain effective. If your period doesn't show up in another week you could test to see where you are. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
I want to thank you so much you eased my mind a lot. I've been on the patch for about 2 months and i just wasn't sure when my period would come because i never really paid any attention to that I always had a general idea when i would start and left it at that. It was the first time for me so i was very unsure and very nervous because i really didn't want to screw up my college career. I know the best way is not to do it at all, but I only get to see my boyfried every once in awhile because he's in the military. but i just want to thank you again so very much i would of really been upset if i not only screwed up my life but his too. Thanks again.
