Hi guys! I am new to this board. I am considering Tubal Ligation.I am 31. My boys are 12 and 5. And I don't want to start over again.

I have tried several different birth control options.

Had the Noraplants, tried the pill, tried the patches.

I am just now getting back to normal after having the Depo shots. My last 1 was Dec of 2003. I have had 2 periods now. Both months the PMS has been terrible. Last week I was in a complete rage, throwing dishes, screaming fits, crying fits, ready to leave my hunny of 10 years and take the kids with me. I was a mess. Poor hunny was crying wanting to take me somewhere for help. (I suffer from bi-polar, depression, and panic attacks and have been hospitalize 2 times already). The doctor failed to warn me about coming off of the depo, after he knows my mental heath history.

And the weight gain..ugh. I am a member of Curves and I was fighting a losing battle. Just now have I lost 5 pounds, big whoop. I am at 189 and have always been small until last baby and I nursed him for 3 years.

Sorry for rambling, but I am trying to decide on the tubal. Hunny will not get fixed, he's too scared. And I am the stay home Mom who cannot handle another baby.

What can I do to help with the Psychotic moments of PMS?

Is anyone else experencing anything like this?

Thanks for listening(reading).

Hi qqmysticalmoon, welcome to the Birth Control Board!

I understand your reluctance to try other pills but before you decide for sure on a TL, have you considered NuvaRing? The site is: http://www.nuvaring.com/Consumer/index.asp NuvaRing is a flexible ring worn in the vagina for three weeks and removed for one for your period. It continuously releases a small amount of hormones and has the lowest dose of estrogen (15mcg) of any method available in the U.S. It can be worn continuously for four weeks without decreasing your protection which is very nice if you need to reschedule your period. It’s not for everyone but a lot of members seem to like it.

Another method you might want to consider is a Mirena IUD http://www.mirena-us.com/ Mirena continuously releases a tiny bit of progestin is very effective, low maintenance and is lasts for 5 years. If you are interested in considering an IUD there is a very good post about them in the FAQs. I hope you find an effective method that works well for you. Let us know what you decide, ok?

Good luck,

      Jill
