I have been taking Ortho-tri cyclen Low for 7 months wihtout any problems. Until this month, on my 3rd week, i started to spotting and have not stop. it has been 7 days now. My friend is taking the same pill from the same pharmacy and she had the same experience last month. I don't know what to do. stop my pills, continue taking my pills, skip the reminder pills? I have not missed any pills, or have Chlamydia trachomatis (i've have the same partner for 4 years), have not taken any antibiotics and i am not pregnant. Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks!

Don't stop taking your pills! Whenever you have irregular bleeding, you need to keep taking your pills to keep yourself protected from pregnancy. If you're starting to get late-cycle bleeding (bleeding in the third week of pills), you might want to check with your doctor about maybe changing to a pill with a different hormone content. It's not uncommon for our own hormonal needs to change over time (even a short time), and sometimes that can make for irregular bleeding patterns. Most of the time it doesn't mean that the pill is ineffective, just less convenient.

Good luck!
