Stopping the pill early

Hi all!

Here's my scenario:

I have been on Trinessa for 3 months and I have experienced naseua, headaches, gained weight, feeling exhausted everyday, mood swings, cramping, etc...

Well, because this was having bad effects with my job, my relationships (I've been sooo crabby) I decided to just go off the pills even though I have 7 more active ones to take this month. I rather deal with the irregular period (if it happens) then be on the pill. I did this once before a few years ago and everything came along fine. I just really don't like being on the pill. I know for most of you it's great, but I have tried a couple and the same effects occur. I wish I could find that perfect one.My BF and I have discussed this and we're just going to use condoms for now.

Now to the question: I took the pill everyday at the same time since I've been on it, never missed a day. This past saturday was my *last one* I took (around noon). Later that night me and my BF had unprotected sex (he came in me). Could I get pregnant from this? I honestly did even think about it until today, but now I am concerned that wasn't such a smart move.

Thanks for all your wisdom & comments. These forums are so helpful for people like me ;)

I believe that if you had sex before you were late for taking the pill you were scheduled to on Sunday, you were still protected against pregnancy. Since you`re supposed to take a pill every 24 hours, your body didn`t know that it wasn`t going to get its hormone dose for the next day and just decide to randomly start ovulating. If you took your pill on Saturday, you should have been protected until you missed you pill for Sunday. I hope this helps!

And, while you`re using condoms, if you want to increase the effectiveness and your chances of not getting pregnant, you should look into adding a spermicide to help out! They`re pretty cheap, come in many varities, and help boost your chances of avoiding a pg.

Oh! If pills give you unpleasant side effects, have you ever thought about looking into NuvaRung? http://www.nuvaring.com It has the lowest dose of hormones on the market, and therefore less hormonally related side effects. It`s a vaginal ring, about 2 inches in diameter, worn for three weeks straight and then removed during the fourth week so that you can have your period. It`s around 99% effective (the numbers vary slightly depending on what source you look at, but it`s considered to be generally as effective as the pill without the daily hassle).

Let us know what you decide and I hope this helps you out!

Lena is right on. You should be protected from your IC on the last day you took your pills. A lot of members posting about NuvaRing seem to like it so you might want to give it a try. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,
