another IUD string Q

Hi all,

I don't think this is a problem (and it may be I am not feeling what I think I am, or the issue may resolve on it's own)so hate to bother the doc's office. Hoping you all can advise...though I'll call them if I continue to have this concern.

I am probably a bit obsessed with checking the string on my new IUD, but today when I checked it seems the string is looped and the end is in the cervical opening next to where it comes out. It was before obviously wrapped over the cervix and up behind it into the vagina. I know I should not mess with it. Anyone know if this can happen when you have IC? (I can see how it could, and don't see how it would get like this "by itself.")

I will check the status again later...but wondering if anyone's ever heard of this?

Sandy

I wouldn't worry as long as the length of the string doesn't change substantially. I was a little obsessed with checking the string myself after I got my IUD. I noticed it seemed to move around some. One thing that I noticed too, the length would seem a little longer or shorter at different parts of my cycle. I was freaking out the first time I noticed that, thinking something was wrong, but that's been repeating every month now.

I'm not too versed on string issues, but that's never happened to me-I've had the Mirena IUD for over a year now and my string's always "straight"....If you're concerned, call your dr.....that's why they are there....good luck
