I'm curious as to what the differences are between Ortho-Cyclen, Ortho Tri-Cyclen and Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo? I was put on Ortho-Cyclen while most of my friends were put on Ortho Tri-Cyclen.

Hi mapper71,

For the differences see the post: 'Your pills and what's in them' in the FAQs. Ok?

Take care,

I think I'd take Ortho Cyclen and be just as happy with it! There's not a whole lot of difference between these pills. They're all the same progestin. OTC gets prescribed a lot by doctors for some reason, but not all doctors start with that pill. Ortho Cyclen has the same progestin and estrogen dose as the third week of Ortho Tri Cyclen, which can lead to more stable moods and better bleeding control (if that's a problem for your friends). It's also easier to skip periods with because all the active pills are the same dose. Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo is exactly the same as Ortho Tri Cyclen except it's only got 25mcg of estrogen in each day, which can make for less bleeding and fewer side effects in women who are more sensitive to the estrogen.

If you like it, there's no reason to switch, every woman is going to need something different and what works for your friends might not work for you and vice versa.

Good luck!
