I have been on birth control pills for close to 8 years and have been suffering in the past year or so from low libido (on Yasmin). I went off Yasmin for a few months and it got better but my boyfriend loaths condoms so I want to go back on something else. I'm thinking of trying Nuvaring and was wondering if anyone could speak to the libido effects of Nuvaring. Thanks in advance.

Libido is an entirely individual experience for everybody. Some women's libidos aren't affected by birth control pills, some women are affected by every birth control pill, so you really do have to check things out and see what works best for you. I have been using the ring for about 2 years, and for me the convenience and effectiveness are my priorities over any libido issues (I have some other things besides the hormones competing). My fiance won't use condoms either (he swears he would if he'd get more sex, but I don't believe that would last more than a week), so I'm using what works best for my own sanity.

You might give it a try and see how it goes! If you do, feel free to come back and ask any questions!

I switched to the NuvaRing about 9 months ago and love it. My doctor told me it wouldn't help with my libido, but you know what? I think it did. It's not to any extreme, but at the very least I think it did help.

I love the NuvaRing for many other reasons though. I LOVE not having to remember to take a pill everynight, and I don't seem to be so moody anymore.

Good luck!

I was on the ring for almost a year and I didn't notice any changes in my libido. I've recently had to switch to a higher hormone pill, Desogen, because of ovarian cysts and that has effected it. I loved using the ring and I wish I could still be on it. It's a real pain to take that stupid pill at the same time everyday. Good luck with your decision.
