Manipulating cycle?

I switched from Estrostep to Ortho-Cyclin about three months ago. Since then I've been trying to manipulate my cycle to start two days earlier, mainly so I won't have my period on the weekends. I didn't think it was a big deal, since it was only a two day difference.

My boyfriend and I are active, but in addition to using bc, we also use condoms and sometimes spermicidal lube. We've never had a condom break, and we don't take any risks. I'm getting a little worried because my period is late - both in terms of my previous cycle and my new one. I know the odds of me being pregnant are extremely slim, but I'm starting to get worried.

Could my body just be spazzing out because of the cycle change, or should I be worried?

Yeah, your body could still be adapting to the hormones. I wouldn`t be worried; with all of the extra procautions you`re taking, pregnancy is super, super, SUPER slim! I bet that Aunt Flow will be along any day now.

Also, if you`ve been stressed out (like about being pregnant!), that can make your period delayed. Generally, even one missed period isn`t considered a cause for alarm, either. Sometimes, our bodies can skip. Two missed periods is generally cause for alarm, though.

BUT! Like I said, I`m sure that you`re not pregnant. Any time now. :)

Hi terra_j, welcome!

If you have been taking your pills correctly (see: 'taking your pills correctly' in the FAQs) there is very little risk of an unintended pregnancy. How are you trying to manipulate your period? Did you decrease your placebo interval from 7 days to 5 days? It can take a few cycles for Aunt Flo to settle into a routine and you are probably still adjusting to the hormones. A typical interval for AF's arrival is between 2 and 5 days after the last active pill and the interval can vary between different pills. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,
