On Pill...Want to get Pregnant soon

I have been on the pill since I was fifteen years old. I am happily engaged and planning on starting a family in a couple of years and I'm not sure when I should get off the pill and how to check if I'm fertile. I've been reading some of the messages and they were talking about how they knew when they fertile and when they weren't. So, when should i get off the pill and can I check for fertility?

As for getting pregnant after the pill, it usually doesn`t take long after stopping because it really only controls your hormones one month at a time. Some wome get pregnant on their first pill-free cycle, for some women it takes longer. If you want to stop taking your birth control beforehand to see if you have a regular period (indicative of ovulation), be sure that you use another method of birth control in the meantime until you`re protected again. When you want to stop taking the pill to try for a family is something that is between you and your soon-to-be-hubby (congrats, by the way!). Like I said, pregnancy can be immediate or it can be a little delayed, so definitely be ready for a bouncing baby when you decide to stop the pill.
Now, I`m not sure if you`re asking about whether your body will be able to ovulate (fertility) after being on the pill or what time of the month will be your fertile time. If the latter in the case and I yammer in the first paragraph for no reason, you could always check out the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility", mentioned in several posts floating around. In it, you can find out how to chart your bodys signs that indicate when you`re most fertile by using temperature, cervical mucus, and cervical position.
Hope this helps!
