I have been on the pill for almost a year and it's almost time for my anual pap test. I started my period on tuesday, but it's not supposed to start until sunday. Today's "flow" (if you will) is not regular. it's heavier than usual. It's almost like it was before I got started on the pill. Not to mention the cramps were so bad when I started on tuesday that I had to skip my math class. I am scared, I don't want this to be a bad thing. Please help. Thanks.

Several things could trigger changes in bleeding - the biggest one I can think of is stress. Been under a lot of it lately? Lots of tests, finals coming up, maybe? It can also trigger your period early if you miss a pill or are late taking a few or even one.

I don`t think you have anything to worry about unless the bleeding continues to be unusually heavy and goes on for an unusually long time, hon. If it does, though, you definitely need to get ahold of your gyn. But look at your annual pap test like this - if there is something wrong, which I think is pretty unlikely, your annual will help catch it early, maybe before it becomes serious.

But, like I said, just give it a few things. If it still seems wrong, give your doctor a call. It doesn`t cost anything and will really ease your mind!

Oh yeah! big time stress. I was thinking that could be part of it because my eczema has been acting up also. I have 2 papers due this month (big ones) and 2 tests so far, but the good news is I have a stress free relationship with my boyfriend. :) I've been good on taking my pills and I've only ever missed one pill this (almost) year. I will call my doctor if it proceeds to continue this way next week, but I think with your response to my panic, it calmed me down, you and my boyfriend calmed me down, so now maybe i can do some relaxation things this and next week to calm myself. Thanks a bunch. Have a great day. :) Thanks again.
