any skin side effects from stopping pill

Hi...

As I posted below, I am looking at getting an IUD (Mirena) after taking the pill for seven years. I was wondering if anyone has had increased complexion breakouts or any weird skin things from going off the pill. Before being on the pill, my periods were VERY irregular, to the point of only having a period every three months or so. Being put on the pill was a three-fold decision. First, to regulate my period. Second, to become sexually active. Third, skin benefits (I have had moderate acne for as long as I can remember and was on hormone blockers for my hormonal skin prior to going on the pill). My skin has improved as a result, but I'm not sure if it was due to the pill or just aging in general (I was 20 ish when I went on the pill and I'm now approaching 30). Now I have light breakouts and rosacea, but week long periods. All of the benefits of the IUD appeal to me (convenience, shorter/lighter/no periods, and ideally reduced PMS/anxiety), however if the reduction in systemic hormones will reak havoc on my skin, I'm not sure that an IUD is a good choice then.

Any experiences/advice would be great

Yes, if you had moderate acne before going on the pill, you will probably start breaking out once you get off. I stopped taking Yasmin (which cleared up my skin considerably) this summer when I got out of a long term relationship. I thought that my skin would be better, because I'm 28 now. But, I was breaking out badly for months, and I finally went back on the pill a couple of weeks ago, but my skin hasn't cleared up yet. By the way, I'm back on Alesse now, instead of Yasmin, because my Dr. said she thought it would be better at treating acne, but I'm not sure I agree. Any thoughts from that one anyone? Has anyone tried both Yasmin & Alesse, and which is better for acne?
