Hello-
I will give you the quickie version.
Saw my OB on the 0th of Oct. while on BC-only 2 days left of pills to take. On the day after I started to bleed heavy as if I had my period, it continued Sat. and Sun. so I started a BRAND NEW pack of pills and did not take the placebo. I started a new brand and my period tapered off and now last Wednesday the 10th-the bleeding started again and still am-called the OB nurse and told me to continue the pill (this is my last week) and take the placebo (said it was breakthrough bleeding which is normal)...My ? is-Did I totally screw up by taking a brand new pack and not taking the placebo pack??? HELP??

For this month, if you want to get back to a 'normal' pill cycle, just do as you were recommended: finish out this months pills and take your placebos. When you begin your new pack after your hormone-free week, your cycle should reset and you won`t have any more breakthrough bleeding like this, unless you`re late on a pill or miss taking one which can trigger it again.
Don`t worry! You`ll be fine. :)
Being a woman is NOT easy!! Teaching my beautiful 7 month old girl that already!! ;)
Actually, since you are a brand new pill you might have irregular bleeding next cycle too. It usually takes about 3 cycles for your body to adjust to the new hormones. The first cycle is usually the worst but it depends on how well the hormones in your pills agree with your body chemistry. If you are interested, there are posts about common pill side effects and irregular bleeding in the FAQs. I hope your new pill works well for you. Let us know how you're doing...
Good luck,
Jill
