Skipping P Question

Okay it seems that i have mis-calculated... I skipped my period this week by going onto a new pack in hopes of not having my period when i go to get my wisdom teeth out, therefore decreasing the time needed for backup. Here is how it works out now. (i originally thought i'd have my period the week after my procedure) My period now falls on the week before the procedure. I will be starting a new pack of bc 12/11. My procedure is on 12/17, finishing the first week of actives. Going to be on antibiotics for 5 days during the second week of pills... So i use backup for the week during the antibiotics AND the week after (3rd week) Does this mean i am safe on my 4th (inactive) week? I swear all of this stuff confuses. I have asked the pharmacist and they always say during and a week after taking anitbiotics. So i am safe by their standards, but am i really? Just curious... Sorry to keep bothering about this!
Skipping is going good so far, only 1 week into it. I'd have to complain about one thing. I usually get PMS my 3rd week of actives... My boobs usually start hurting in that time and continute until i have my period... Well they haven't stopped hurting yet and i hoping they will soon! I just hope that doesn't continue till i actually do have my period.
Thanks for everything!

Sorry that the calculations didn`t work out quite as expected!

Yeah, you got it, hon. The pharmacist told you correctly. You should be good during your 4th week. :)
Hi dani, welcome back!
I disagree… If I were you I'd use back-up while taking your antibiotic and continue after you are finished for the next (3rd) week of active pills and continue back-up during your placebo week and for the first week of actives in your new pack.
Perhaps this is overkill but I don't think so. My logic is this. In order to be protected during your placebo week you need to have taken your active pills correctly. If the ABs reduce the effectiveness of your pills for a week you might only have the residual protection of the 3rd week of active pills. Would this be enough to provide effective protection for the entire 7 day placebo week? Perhaps it would - I don't know. Therefore, if I were in your situation I'd be using back-up until the end of the first week of pills in my new pack. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Let Us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
I think I'd side with Jill on this one too--extra backup never hurt anybody and I'd be a little leery of that third week of pills myself, if they were compromised by the antibiotic, I don't know if they'd cover week 4 as well. But what about taking an extra week of active pills? Then you'd be covered in that 4th week and in the placebo week in week 5.
I hope everything goes well!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm almost concidering withdrawing from the hormones after tonight since that would have been just 1 extra week of actives and i'd be on my regular start date schedule. Why'd i do this is because my breasts have been really bothering me and i think its just because they haven't had the chance to rest for a lack of a better term hehe. If i did this, then i'd put my period the week after of my procedure allowing me to take antibiotics during my period (which isn't so bad anyway because i wouldn't normally be doing anything anyway hehe) and use backup the 1st week of actives and be safe for my 2rd week of actives... Right? I can always use an extra week of pills if i don't decide to do this, i have plenty packs of pills that i'd be fine.
Thanks for the advice and patients ;-)
