Beginning using the pill

How long does it take for the side effects of using Birth control to begin? I've been on the pill a week and I sometimes have crampy feelings like I get before I start my period and I feel very bloated.. I dont know if these are already effects from the pill.

Side effects can happen really at any time. Some women have side effects starting in the first couple of days, some women don't get side effects until they've been on a pill for several years. It's totally dependent on your body's response to the pill, but a lot of people worry about side effects too much.
These crampy feelings can be part of the adjustment to the pill and perfectly normal. They can also be related to something else going on in your body that isn't related. The side effects you really need to watch out for are the biggies--chest pain, sudden vision changes, difficulty breathing, sudden severe headaches, severe muscle cramps, they're all listed in the patient information for your pill. These big side effects can be symptoms of more serious health problems, but the other side effects are primarily just annoying.
Hang in there! It might be no big deal and you might never deal with anything more than this, there's no sense in worrying about whether anything will get worse--just enjoy your life! Take care....
