I have read that if you have diarrehea or you vomit after taking your BC pill that that is seen as a miss and you need to take another one as soon as you can and use backup. But just how long after you take your pill does that apply for? I'm asking because I had a bad case of diarrehea on Saturday, but it happened about 9 hours after I took the pill. Does this warning only apply for a few hours after you take the pill until it is absorbed into the bloodstream or does it mean if you EVER have diarrhea or throw up that you need to use backup?

It`s generally considered that if you vomit or have diarrhea withing TWO hours of taking your pill that you need to take those precautions. By two hours, the idea is that your pill has already went through your stomach and been absorbed by your small intestine. The two hour number isn`t golden because it can be affected by things like if you have food in your stomach, liquid, etc.
But after nine hours, hon, you`re definitely in the clear on this one!
Lena's right. Nine hours after taking your pill you should be fine. For more tips on taking your pills correctly... what to do and what to avoid doing, read the post 'Taking your pills correctly' in the FAQs.
Good luck,
