Alesse spotting @ 6 months

Hi im just wondering if i shoudl be concerned about some light spotting im having. Im in a bout my 3rd week of active pills, due to get my period a week from today. I have heard of implantation bleeding that can occur in early pregnancy and dont understand too much about it. Im hoping thats not my problem. I have taken my pills religiously, no missed or late pills, no supplements, no weight loss, nothing different from any other month. I generally feel fine except i do have that crampy sort of feeling in my abdomin. This is just very strage since i havent had any bleeding since the 2nd or 3rd month i started the pill. I did call the nurse at my doctors office and she said that she's heard of this happening to girls onb alesse because its a low dosage of sumthing. Im just scared i guess. Maybe im making this into a bigger deal than it is. Any insight would be great thank you.

Hello there. I just started Aleese 2 1/2 weeks ago and just started spotting now. I realize you have been on it longer then I have, but I think the theroy that it is from the low dose is probably correct. To me it's like your body is trying to overcome the pill and stay to it's regular cycle. That's my thinking.

I was on Alesse for about 4 months and spotted each month. My nurse practitioner told me it was because it was such a low-dosage pill and suggested that I bump up the hormones for my body. I am now on Ortho-Novum 777 and it's working perfectly for me! I believe she told me it was only a step up from Alesse. I'm no expert but I would talk to your doctor about switching since breakthrough bleeding can mean your body is not adjusting to the pills properly. Lots of luck. :)

No, no, that's not what i meant! Don't get worried about it like that. All it means is that you need to bump up the hormones for it to work for YOU (I know none of us want breakthrough bleeding EVERY month, hehe). I took this from the frequently asked questions on the home page of the birth control board:
"Late-cycle bleeding can be an indication that a woman needs a pill with either a higher progestin activity (a combination of the dose and strength of the progestin) or less estrogen."
Hoep this helps. :)

Late cycle spotting is a lot of times due to not enough progestin.
Your awesome, you know so much. Everyones comments have really calmed my nerves. So you dont think this spotting will fix itself if i just keep taking my pills? it not bad at all just very very slight and about once a day i notice it. I am interested in nuva ring, i will definately talk to my doctor about it. Thanks
