Do you remember me?
| Fri, 03-17-2006 - 1:12pm |
Hello,
I hope you remember me...I thought I was pregnant (irregular timing doing the pill), then I tried skipping my period...anyway, this is what's going on: I have no idea if it is related, but I'll try to mention everything:
My period-skipping wasn't very succesful, I'm still spotting ( 1 1/2 weeks now) (brown and VERY little). Yesterday, I bled for a second (?). I have PCOS and I upped my dose of Glucophage XR to 1500mg. I am constantly tired, I feel like my eyes want to shut down! (not depressed). I feel bloated, I feel like going to the bathroom, and when I do, I still feel full. I get very hungry, but then I am easily filled. Can anyone see something I can't?
(I won't have an appointement for another week).

Hi moonlite45, welcome back!
There may be an interaction between oral contraceptives and Glucophage. Was your doctor aware that you are on BCPs? For more about Glucophage XR interactions and side effects see:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/medmaster/a696005.html#precautions which says in part:
“Eat or drink a food or beverage with sugar in it, such as hard candy or fruit juice, and call your doctor immediately if you have any of the symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar):
• shakiness
• dizziness or lightheadedness
• sweating
• confusion
• nervousness or irritability
• sudden changes in behavior or mood
• headache
• numbness or tingling around the mouth
• weakness
• pale skin
• sudden hunger
• clumsy or jerky movements
• seizures
Call your doctor immediately if you have any of the following symptoms of hyperglycemia (high blood sugar):
• extreme thirst
• frequent urination
• extreme hunger
• weakness
• blurred vision”
You may just be adjusting to the higher dose of Glucophage or your symptoms may be of something more serious. If you haven’t already, I think you should call your doctor and let him or her know what’s going on.
I hope you are feeling better soon. Let us know what your doctor says and how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
I haven't heard of anybody using both the pill and
