I take a triphasal pill & I know from experience that it is much harder to skip your period on this type compared to a monophasal pill. I've tried it before & experienced BTB until my next period (not fun) & I know I can get it a few days earlier by changing the day I start the pack on. But is there anyway I can skip it or get it a week earlier w/out completely screwing up my cycle?

The guy I'm seeing is gone for a month, and whether I take them as normal or so I start a few days earlier - I will be starting when he comes home. And he is only going to be home for less than 2 weeks.

TIA for any tips!

Hi me_paralegal, welcome!

There is a way to stand the best chance of successfully skipping or delaying your period on a triphasic pill. Have you read the section on skipping your period (on all types of pills) in the post about taking your pills correctly in our FAQs? In that post there are instructions about skipping on Triphasil, in the section about “Pills with phase lengths other than 7 days:” When you have read that if you have more questions please ask.

If you have time it is always best to move your period ahead of when you actually want to be period free. That way, if things don’t go quite as well as you had hoped you will have the bleeding over with before you are see DBF. Also, you might want to have some Instead menstrual cups www.softcup.com on hand, just incase. Instead can be worn to collect your flow during intercourse and I think most of the members posting about them seem to like them. You can find Instead in the feminine hygiene sections of most pharmacies.

Thanks for stopping by. Please ask if you have more questions. Let us know how skipping on Triphasil works for you this time, ok.

Good luck,
