I love the IUD!!!

I just wanted to let all the women who are interested in the IUD to know that it is a great contraceptive. I thought I would not be able to find any birth control outside of a condom due to the fact that I had high-blood pressure. Because of my pressure other contraceptives would have increased my pressure which would have been unhealthy, and other birth control had steroids, which makes you gain weight and I didn't want that either. Therefore, I thought I was stuck with only condoms until I talked w/ my doctor for options.

It was so easy! Everything listed in the A-Z about birth control for IUD's is accurate, but not as graphic as it sounds.

I had a visit, made sure I was not pregnant, had a discussion about children b/c I don't have any and at the time I was 29, but you can take it out by a doctor so it is no big deal and he put it in me right in the office.

I did spot for a day or two and that was it. The only down side is my periods are 7 days from 4 and they ARE heavy and I get slight cramps and aches where I didn't have them before.

Ladies, it is simple and hassel free. I have had my IUD for almost 4 years and I am HAPPILY married and still w/o children if you get my drift!!!

I wanted to share my experience in hopes that it brings someone comfort in making a birth control decision. Remember wear a condom if you are not in a committed relationship and personally speaking a marriage. You can have a good time and all the sex in the world w/o getting pregnant or diseased up! Take care of yourself Ladies

I've got the IUD for some of the same reasons you mentioned....I can't take any other form of birth control due to my chronic high blood pressure issues....and for the most part I love it...I've gone through spells of spotting but I haven't had a real period in over a year and absolutely love it.

First SweetMM I would like to say thank you for reading my post. Also, lucky you for no periods, that is something. Make sure you stay in a doctor's care to be assured that all is well w/ no periods and if you are already assured Hip Hip Horray! I hate my periods now, so I would have to say I'm envious! Still again..I love the IUD!

I thought I'd chime in and say that I love the IUD too! I had the Mirena inserted in December and so far I've only had a few light periods and they are spaced farther apart then they were on the pill. I think the IUD is the best option for women in a committed one on one monogamous relationship. The IUD can increase the chance of infection if the woman has multiple partners.

Hi St. Patty!, I'm glad you love it too! What I just learned recently was that there were two IUD's The Merina and the other one. I have the other one, which makes your period looooooooooooooooooooong and heavy, but I still wouldn't have any other birth control. And yes, it is great for one on one usage. That was the whole reason why I got the IUD. I had started seeing someone and it was getting serious so I KNEW I needed some protection for those spontaneous nights, days, all of it!

I can't feel the string at all. Of course, once a month, I stick my finger up there to make sure the string is in place.... but that's the only time I ever feel it and it's my finger that is feeling it.

Thanks 2020 for commenting on the post and feeling comfortable to ask me (us) questions. The string is literally no big deal. It is there for you to check the IUD each month. You virtually do not feel anything in your body. You really will be going on w/o a doubt w/ your life and daily activities. Your mate may or may not feel the string, but if he does it should not bother him. If the string is too long, your doctor can pull the string up or down for you. I am married w/ a very happy and active sex life and not once have I thought about pregnancy. I have had my IUD for almost 4 years now at least 3 anyway...see I quit counting. The IUD does not affect weight or hormones because it is something inserted in you, nothing you take. The down fall is the long heavy periods. I just buy the multi-pack of tampoons w/ regular and super then I'm okay. Any more questions please do not hesitate to respond back, I get an email notification of all responses! Good Luck!
