Depo and Heartburn....among other q's.

I'm 23, and have been on the depo shot for 9 months. Since then, I've noticed that I get heartburn quite easily and often. It runs in the family, but I've never really been that affected by it. I've tried to find information on it, but heartburn isn't even listed as a side effect of the shot! Has anyone noticed this since being on depo? I'm at a total loss. I don't think I am going to continue the shot though. Since my first injection, my libido has disappeared, and when I do have sex, it's the most painful it's ever been. It definitely works as a birth control, considering I do not even desire to have sex. I've tried many things to try and get myself aroused, and it just doesn't ever happen. I've heard of a decreased interest in sex, but losing interest completely? has anyone else had these problems, and if so, have you found an alternate bc that is similar? I don't want to chance taking the pill, cos I can't even remember to take my vitamins every day. Oh how I wish norplant was still around.

Though heartburn isn't listed as a side effect, I don't see why changes to your body chemistry (the addition of artificial hormones) couldn't have something to do with it.

I can't speak for the heartburn, but when I was on depo I experienced a complete loss of libido (among a whole list of other issues). My loss of libido was so bad that I wouldn't even let my (then) BF touch me in a nonsexual manner, let alone sexual. I am now using an IUD, which has been a lot better for me than anything else.

Maybe you could look into using Nuvaring or the patch, then you don't have to remember to take a pill every day.
