I've just started taking it and my doctor basically just gave me the pills. I looked at the side effects online. And, nausea is a possible side effect. I've been feeling pretty sick on it, though, and I've JUST started taking it. I can't get a hold of my doctor either. I haven't taken an BC before. The website to Yasmin said that it's suppose to get better (the side effects, but I recall it mentioned after a few months). And when the time comes for me to take the placebo-ish pills, do I have to take them? Or can I just not take any pills at all?
And does anyone have suggestions for a different brand?

Hi lilybk, welcome!
It usually takes about 3 cycles when starting or changing pills for your body to adjust to the new hormones. Any side effects should decrease during the second cycle and disappear after the third if the pill is right for you. You really need to give any hormonal method about 3 cycles to really see how you will do on it.
Since you are new to hormonal contraceptives you should read the posts in out FAQs about how the pill works, common pill side effects, irregular bleeding and taking your pills correctly. There is a lot of good information in those posts.
Thanks for posting. I hope you are feeling better soon. Please ask if you have more Qs. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
Nausea can be pretty common when you first start the pill, your stomach isn't used to having estrogen in it.
Wow, I wish I had read this sooner. I already stopped taking Yasmin, and on the 5th day of my period, I am suppose to try Ortho-tri...something. I wish I hadn't punked out. I should have taken it right before bed. But I would take it at night, but not right before I sleep, and I ended up having trouble sleeping. A friend told me that I would gain weight on Ortho. This sounds stupid, and I realize that every body is different, but I REALLY don't want to gain weight. I should buy a scale and keep track, once I start this new pill. I will also have to check out the site for common side effects. Do the hormones in BC really cause weight gain?
Anyway, thanks so much. I'll remember these tips when I start this kind.
Anyone have good luck with this pill, as well?
OTC Lo is a VERY popular pill right now!
I have had very few side fx with Ortho Tri-Cyclen.
