I posted this on a message board and someone wrote in saying they were on mircette, had this problem along w/increased blood pressure so their DOC took them off of it immediately just in case anyone else here experiences it.
Starting and stopping hormonal contraceptives on a monthly basis is really hard on your body and giving a pill only a 4 week trial will not tell you if it will work well for you or not. It takes at least 3 cycles for your body to adjust to the new hormones when you start or switch pills. Switching every 2 months is just confusing your body big time!
Mircette has a very different progestin and less estrogen per day (and over a longer period of time-26 days) that the other two pills. The ingredients (from the post in our FAQs) of the three are:
Seasonale: 0.15mg levonorgestrel, 30mcg EE Mircette: 0.15mg desogestrel, 20mcg EE for 21 days, 10mcg only 5 days Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo: 0.18mg norgestimate (7), 0.215mg (7), 0.25 (7), 25mcg EE (21)
The hormones from BCPs are no longer effective as a method of contraception 8 days after you finish all the active pills in a pack and side effects such as breast swelling and decreased libido begin to change within a week. Six weeks off the pill and I think there should be hardly a trace left, if that.
Has your leg pain always coincided with the times you were on BCPs? Have you been walking or working out more? Do other members of your family have any circulatory problems? Members have posted about random pain in limbs but as I recall the pain stopped, (or the member never gave us an update) after stopping hormones. I hope other members who have had pill/pain will stop by and share their experiences.
Thanks for posting. I hope your doctor can find out what is causing your discomfort. Let us know what s/he says, ok?
bump for some responses :-)
