strange period?

Hi everyone! I stopped using nuvaring a while ago, probably about 4-6 months ago. My cycle has been longer than normal since I went off, and I often don't get my period until about 33 days into my cycle rather than my normal 28. Well this month I have only spotted a little bit, just a small amount of brown discharge and nothing more. It's been like this for a couple of days, I can wear a pad all day and only see a very little amount of discharge. So I'm very confused because this is not at all like my normal periods, nor is it like my "abnormal" periods since I've been off BC. I'm not freaking out about pregnancy because like I said I have had a very very light flow of brown for a few days so it seems like a period, sort of...I don't know...I usually have very sore breasts too when I am about to get my period and I never got the breast soreness this month. Anyone have any clue what's up? Thanks for the help!

starting to panic now, this started around thurs of last week and now it's tuesday and still just very light, almost spotting...
Bump!
Hi aerandel, welcome back!
When you are cycling naturally all sorts of things can affect your cycles and periods. Do you remember if you had a 28 day cycle before you started hormonal contraceptives? Your BCPs kept you regular at 28 days while you were on them. So, since you have been off hormones for a few months your 33 day cycles are probably what are now your natural cycles.
Have you changed your lifestyle, diet, exercise, medicines, and supplements, been under more stress or been sick this past cycle? Those things can sometimes affect the amount of endometrium created (and therefore your flow) each cycle and when you ovulate. I don't think you have anything to worry about as far as pregnancy is concerned if you have been using an effective method of contraception and using it correctly. Bleeding is not usually a sign of pregnancy but if it would make you feel better you could test, just for peace of mind.
Thanks for stopping by. If you have more questions, please ask. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
