just stopped birth control pills

I was on ortho tri-cyclin lo for almost 3 years and I stopped taking them a little over a month ago. My daughter just turned 4 and my husband and I have decided it's time to have another child. I've read that you should wait a couple of cycles after stopping the pill before you try to get pregnant, but I guess we were a little eager and started right away. So now it's been 29 days since my last period and I haven't seen any sign of aunt flo yet. My question is; when should I expect to get a visit from her? Could I possibly already be pregnant? And how soon after having sex should you take a pregnancy test? Thanks for your help and advice!!!

It can take a couple of months to start cycling naturally after stopping the pill, so if you're trying to conceive right now and your last period was your pill period....you could wind up with the longest pregnancy on record (because they date from your last period)!
Congrats on deciding to try for a baby! My doctor said there was no reason to wait after stopping birth control. She said it is mainly for dating the pregnancy but they do that with early ultrasound in her office. I got pregnant my first month off the birth control patch at the ripe old age of 34. Dh is 35. I took off the patch 6/29 and got a + test on 8/4.
It may be early enough for you to test or it may not be. It depends on when you ovulated. Usually women think they ovulate on day 14 (counting first day of period as day 1) but I did not ovulate until day 21, which is why I didn’t test positive until later.
Good luck & have fun trying if this isn’t the month!

Are you using FAM to prepare to TTC? I did not know that. Congrats if you are:)
If not, it is a wonderful way to keep in touch with your body. I charted and used opk's when ttc'd and it worked wonderfully!

No, I'm still TTA for an undetermined amount of time!

I did the same thing. I was going to wait but just didn't like other contraceptive methods! And yes the first time out BINGO. You can test any time. In the words of my Dr., "I thought I told you to wait HAHA" and "You can't be a little bit Pregnant!
