Spotting with IUD

I have the Paragard IUD. I have had it since December of last year. I had my period March 17 until March 23. Now I am spotting. I have been spotting since last Monday, March 27. It only happens for part of the day from like 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Is this normal?

I have asked this question on the board before but forgot the answers that people wrote. Should I call my OBGYN? I am tired of the spotting. I thought my body would be used to the IUD by now. Even my hubby is getting concerned about the spotting.

if you're concerned it would always be good to see your dr or at least put a call into the office.....I have the mirena-have had it for about 3 years now....At about the 2 year mark I started spotting and it just wouldn't stop....not enough to worry about but it was annoying (it would last a day and then go away and come back the next day-not last all day but show up "whenever" LOL).....My dr put me on a low dose patch and it went away.I've been off the patch for about a month now after wearing it for about a year....((HUGS))

I have a flexi T 300+ IUD, one of only two brands available in Canada (Paraguard is not available here). I've had it inserted for over a year now, and still have often a week of spotting between periods. I almost always have spotting the day after sex. I'm worried about it, but because I want highly effective, reversible, non-hormonal birth control, it still seems like the best option; so I put up with it.
My doctor has suggested the IUD works partly by irritating the lining of the uterus. Throughout the course of the cycle, cells are sloughed off by the IUD, causing spotting. Anything which raises blood pressure, for example exercise or sex, will make bleeding more likely. He says it is nothing to worry about, and may or may not stop over time.
I've heard one concern that persistent irritation of the uterus may cause thinning of the walls of the uterus, and scarring, which could lead to sterility. My doctor doesn't think this is likely. If anyone else out there knows anything, please post.
