Hi! I've been looking through these boards and impressed with all the great insight people have. So, I thought I'd see if anyone has any feedback for me.
I've been on BCP for about 10 years --since I was about 17. I started because of ovarian cysts, but to be honest i don't remember too much about this time. I did have some horrible experiences with the BCP i was on earlier-- i think ortho cept and another one that started with ortho.
Anyhow, I've been on Alesse now for 5 years. I've always liked it, though i had problems with depression, which i was on antidepressants for. Since going off the antidepressants last summer (one of them was clearly affecting my hormones--got acne, hair loss, etc), I've had horrible menstral cramps, lower back pain, and acne. Some mood swings too. I've recently gotten REALLY fatigued with foggy thinking. So, my gyno wants to switch my pill.
He wanted to put me on ortho-novum, but i was weary of increasing the estrogen so much. I'm a small person and very sensitive to anything I take. He ended up given me Yasmin.
But, now I'm wondering whether i should make a clean break, go off the pill and see how things go. I don't have a BF. I know the pill does affect mood and people have reported feeling better off it. So, I was wondering if anyone has any input on whether they feel better mentally and physically with or without the pill?
Thanks a bunch!

I wouldn't think it would be unreasonable at all if you wanted to take a break from the pill, especially since you don't need it for birth control.
