It's not true that you can't be on the mini pill if you aren't breastfeeding. Lots of women take it if the regular pill doesn't agree with them or they have high blood pressure or other conditions. It is slightly less effective since it doesn't always stop ovulation, but there's no reason you can't stay on it.
I spent about a year on the mini pill before I got an IUD. I took it because I had horrible depression on the regular pill. I did have a lot of spotting and irregular periods at first, but that settled down in a few months.
You can take the mini pill if you aren't bfing....I took it for 8 months after the birth of my son and I couldn't breast feed.We used it as our ONLY form of birth control and didn't get pregnant....If you like how your body responds to it and can take it on time I don't see why you should switch if you don't want to.I had to come off the pill totally due to high blood pressure concerns.good luck
There's no reason why you should have to go back on the combined pill. As long as you are taking the mini-pill at exactly the same time every day, then you are protected about as well as the combined pill. As you have found out, you can experience more breakthrough bleeding on the mini-pill, but as long as you're not having serious problems, there is no reason to change what is working for you.
I was on the mini-pill when I was 18. Never got pregnant, but I did end up with heavy breakthrough bleeding and had to find an alternative birth control. I had another friend, same age as me, and she never had problems either. Neither of us had children.
Playgroups are great for information about ages and stages.....but in my own limited experience with them, they can be a great breeding ground for misinformation about other health issues, ESPECIALLY birth control!
