Stopping pill/lowering testosterone?

hey everyone!

im hoping i can get some advice here! :) I have been on Yasmin for the past 3 1/2 motnhs (started dec.18th), and I have decided to stop this month's cycle. I really went on the PIll to lower my testosterone levels when I was tested back in December, as advised by a doctor at my local college. I had been tested there once, and this was the first time I had had elevated testosterone levels according to a test that year (i had a few during 2005, so i was surprised when it came back differently)
I went on Yasmin without hesitation, and havent had many worries about it. I did experience some emotional ups/down the first two months, but that's to be expected.
It has somewhat helped with my period, but nothing significant. I am NOT sexually active, so I don'tneed it for that reason. I also did have some chest pain in the last month that i was concerned about, but i have yet to have that checked out (has subsided since stopping Pill, but then again, i am much LESS stresed as well, so i don't know the exact culprit.) I contacted a nurse at the local health unit, and i am to call back this week to get the opinion of a on call doctor. (I did experience some leg/calf pain, which of course alarmed me of a possible clot, but I know that the pill can decrease calcium in the body, and that is one symptom. ) I will have these checked if they come back again.

I would rather this route, and have no real significant reason to be on the pill, other than that (mild acne/hair growth, but that Im sure is hormone related. I will have the levels checked again, but i dont have a steady doctor at the moment, so it's walk in clinic for the mean time (but i know lab results can vary).
Was I wise to stop the pill, and look for an alternative route to lower my testosterone levels naturally? (assuming it's still high)
I am 21, and i am worried about the added hormonal confusion/side effects on my body if i stop, then start again. (

sorry for rambling, I just needed to vent:)

cheers!

Hi moxie04, welcome back!

I think you probably did the right thing stopping BCPs. An article about high female testosterone levels is: http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C621300.html#H7 . If your testosterone still tests high you might want to talk to your doctor about just estrogen therapy to see if that will help. Please let us know how your tests go and what you and your doctor decide.

Thanks for posting. If you have more questions please ask.

Good luck,
