Hi guys!
I've been on the nuvaring for a few months now and it so happens that next
month i'm going on vacation and I'm suppose to get my period that same week!
Is there some way that I can either delay it or make it come sooner?
Thanks guys!

Hi plprincess44, welcome!

If you are using your ring in the conventional manner, inserted for 3 weeks and removed for 1 for your period, then you can wear it continuously for 4 weeks (no more than 28 days) with no decrease in your protection. That should delay your period by a week. If you need more of a delay and have the time you could do that again with your next ring as well. Or, you could try delaying your period for 3 weeks by using 2 rings back-to-back (for 3 weeks each) with no week in between for your period. Whichever you try I think you should try to do it as soon as possible because delaying works better for some women than for others, so if delaying doesn't work as well as you hope you will be past any problems by the time your vacation arrives.

Thanks for posting. More questions? If so, please ask. Let us know what you decide to do and know you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

You could do either. However, if I were you, if you leave the ring inserted for 4 weeks, I would take a hormone free week for my period and then insert a new ring. That will give you the best chance of delaying successfully. The reason is that the hormone levels in NuvaRing are so low that you may or may not be able to go continuously for 7 weeks (4+3) without bleeding. Depending on how much time you have before your vacation that may not be a good time to be experimenting. If you do have enough time you could try going without your hormone free week and see what happens. If you do begin to bleed mid-cycle of the second ring you could remove the ring, have your period and then insert a new ring. If you did have to remove the second ring mid-cycle you should be protected during your hormone free week because you had worn the ring continuously for more than 21 days.

Let us know what you decide and how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

Thanks soo much I think this month I'm going to leave it in for 4 weeks and take it out for 1 to get my period. I think it would be safer that way.
Thanks again!

When I was using the ring, that's usually what I would do--I tried going back-to-back with rings and it didn't go so well!
