Hello everyone,
I am new to the board and I was just wondering if someone could help me answers questions I have about my IUD. I had Merina IUD put in on the 6th of Feb. and I have really had no problems until the last two weeks. I have had what I thought were two very light periods since insertion, but last week I was really sick to my stomach and I have really bad pelvic pian somedays and others I feel great. Plus the other night during sex I thought I was going to jump out of my skin I am really tender in the cervix area. What could this all mean and should I call my Doctor to make sure I am not PG I know the IUD is still there I have checked and can feel the strings. I am just confused and not sure if it is something serious or nothing to worry about. Thanks for your help. Wermnms

Having an IUD can put you at an increased risk for pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). The pelvic pain and sensitive cervix are signs that make me think you should go to your GYN just to make sure everything is ok. They could just be your uterus getting used to the IUD, but PID is not something you want to take lightly. So - if I were you, I would go get things checked out just to make sure everything is okay.
Good luck!
I have a Mirena IUD. If the pain is sometimes really bad, and your cervix is sensitive during sex, then I think it might be an idea to go to your doctor to have it checked out. It might be nothing, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
I have never experienced any cervical sensitivity, or pain off and on. I did have an infection when I first got my IUD, but the pain started, and continued to get worse, wasn't off and on like you describe.
