switching pills...silly question

I'm currently on Alesse and will be switching to a new pill (Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo). I'm in my pill free/placebo pill week and would be starting up a new pack of pills this Tuesday. My question is, I continue to keep Tuesday as my start day and start the Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo BCP that day...correct? I know it's kind of a silly question. I'm pretty positive that I continue with my start date as usual, but I just wanted to double check.

Also, in regards to switching the pill time. If I've been taking it at 6PM but wanted to switch to 7PM the next pill pack...it doesn't seem like a big difference (interval is less that 24 hrs.)...but technically, if I start at 7PM in the new pack...won't I be over 7 24hr days?

Please advise! and Thanks in advance :)

hi there,

I was just prescribed a different birth control pill by my doctor and asked her the very same questions. you would start your new pack on the same day as you would have with the old pack. also, changing the time of day is totally fine, especially if you're only changing it one hour.

good luck!

Hi rissi_pieces, welcome!

I agree with the other poster. You should begin your new pills at the same time you would have begun a new pack of your old brand. This board considers +/-2 hours of your regular pill time to be on-time so moving your pill time by one hour should be no problem.

Thanks for coming by. If you have more questions please ask. Let us know how you like OTC, ok?

Good luck,
