Ortho Tri Cyclen Help

Hi-
I'm having a major issue. I have taken many different birth control brands in the past and never had a problem skipping periods using them. I thought it would be the same for Ortho Tri Cyclen, but evidently I was wrong. I tried skipping my period with them, just like the other pills I used to take, meaning i just went from pack to pack. I know have been bleeding for two weeks straight, with no signs of it stopping. Has anyone had an experience like this? I'd love to get some advice. Thanks!

It's more complicated to skip periods on triphasic pills. Many can't just go back to back. You have to take 2 packs together, like week 1 from pack A, then week 1 from pack B, week 2 from pack A, etc. There is a better explanation in the post "Taking your pills correctly" in the FAQ section.

I agre with Allison and just wanted to add that the 1 time I tried to skip my period when I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen, I had close to a 2 week period as well. The next cycle was back to normal though - just meant I had a 2 week period, 2 weeks off and then another period!!!
If you want to skip you periods, I'd suggest going on Seasonale, which is specifically designed for that purpose.

Actually Seasonale is just Nordette/Levora repackaged into a 3 month cycle and tested to prove it doesn't hurt anybody any more than the 28 day pills....the hormones are the same as what we've been using for years!

But you're right--skipping is harder with OTC, not just because it's phasic, but because the progestin dose is pretty low in the first place.
