BCP...is it protection enough?

I have a question that may sound like I'm a moron, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. A friend of mine told me that even if I'm on the BCP, my guy still needs to pull out before he ejaculates, or I'll get pregnant. Is this true?

if the pill's taken correctly (as in not missing/skipping/forgetting to take the pill or taking it later than usual) you're protected-even if it's the ONLY form of birth control you're using. He can safely ejaculate inside you and you're STILL protected.I used it as my only form of birth control for years and didn't get pregnant while taking the pill. But you have to take it right.if you're worried you could always add spermicide or condoms as extra protection.good luck.

I agree with Sweetmissmagnolia, as long as you take your pills on time and correctly you should be protected from getting pregnant, BUT do know that nothing is ever 100% sure except abstinance.

On another note, many ladies on this board use birth control pills/ring/patch/etc only for protection. I only use the ring for my protection.

Good luck!

I agree with the others--though birth control pills aren't 100% effective at preventing pregnancy, and they are very dependent on how well you take them (same time every day, no conflicting medications, etc.), with perfect use they are upwards of 98-99% effective.

What 98-99% effective means is that out of 100 couples who use the pill (and nothing else)
