Is there anyone out there that is also on the new Yaz birth control pill? I just started taking this pill this month, and i know that is just came out in april 2006. Does anyone know if this will be a good pill to be on? what is the effectivness of this particular pill? Also, is it true that it will help with pmdd?

The effectiveness of Yaz should be the same as any other birth control pill, as it had to go through all of the FDA testing (since it's technically a new formulation).

The same paper by Yonkers that Schering AG sites in their PMDD studies showed that there is more break through bleeding with the lower dose Estrogen Yaz. As sited in a previous reply, each person has a different experience with their method. Good luck

I started YAZ last month. I had been on the no progesterone pill after having my daughter and was not liking the weight gain and mood swings. I had a good first month and my mood seems to have stabilized. My weight is starting to drop off too - I've added exercise to my routine which also helps but even before starting YAZ I had been exercising regularly but not losing any weight.
Let me know how your first month goes...

I was very interested to find this thread because my doctor prescribed this for me today, and I had never heard of it (which I see now is because its so new). I really hope that it helps as much as it claims to - since I got my cycle back after my younger son was born, my PMS has been harder than before. And I have been actively trying to lose weight for several months now with very limited success. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Hi! I was just prescribed this drug after some bad side effects on Ortho Tri-Cyclen (including acne and migraines). So, I start it the weekend. The main thing I have read it is helps with weight loss. Does anyone have any comments on how it affects their skin and moods?

Just wondering. I know it's different for everybody, but would like to hear from anyone taking it. Thanks!

Hi. I just started my second week on YAZ. I was prescribed this pill after a bad experience with anxiety attacks on Mircette a couple of years ago. So far, I'm doing fine on YAZ. My main complaint is the break-through bleeding. I started my period 9 days ago, and I'm still bleeding! (TMI...sorry) This is unusual for me, b/c my periods usually only last about 6-7 days. It's annoying, but I'm going to give it a few months before I give up on it. I've read some other posts about this same thing with YAZ, so I think it's one of the major complaints with this pill. Those girls have said their doctors have basically told them it's normal and to "hang in there." Other than that, I've experienced a tiny bit of nausea and fatigue, but nothing major.

I am fixing to be on my third pack of pills of yaz, and this second month, I have experienced at least 4 days of break thru bleeding. I don't know why I am spotting. It may be due to just starting this new pill. My body probably has to get adjusted to these new hormones. Although, I do like having a period for only 3 days. So far, the first period I had on this pill was only 3.
