Loestrin and Leg itchyness

I have been on Loestrin just over a month now and I have noticed itchy spots on my lower legs. It is not rash like, but it is red, spotty, and itches. I started a new med for other health issues a few weeks before starting Loestrin, so I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced itchy legs while on Loestrin, so I can have a better idea of which dr to call and what med might be causing the problem.

Thanks,
Mary

The solution isn't always switching to a "lower dose". The Loestrin pills are the only marketed pills that constain Norethindrone Acetate. 1.5mg or 1.0 mg.

It could be switching to a different progestin. Loestrin contains Norethindrone Acetate which is a more androgenic progestin. Androgenic progestins could cause side effects like acne, hirsutism and weight gain. Progestins like Norgestimate (found in Ortho tricyclen Lo) might be an alternative.

As Loestrin has the highest progestin dose (even considering the strength of progestins) on the US market, any pill she could switch to would have a lower progestin dose.
