I had been taking the Depo-Provera shot for about 10 years but decided about 10 months ago to stop taking it. I had alot of weight gain and nill to no sex drive due to the shot. I would like to get on a new birth control and wanted everyones opinion on the ones that they like. I am also not very good with remembering to take the pill, so any other suggestions would be very welcome.

I used depo for awhile (2 years) and I love the convenience and low maintenance, but I hated the side effects of the hormones. I've tried a few other things (condoms, pills, Minera) but ultimately, I think the best option for me is the paragard IUD. I love that it is hormone free and over 99% effecive without me having to remember anything. So I think it can be a good option for a lot of people, especially if you're fed up with hormones and want something low maintenance. I know paragard can cause cramping or heavier periods, but for me I have not experienced either of those side effects, so I can't really comment on that.

Anyway, that's just my two cents. Good luck with whatever you choose.
