Missed Birth Control Pills

I take my birth control pills at night, and when I got home from a trip in Europe jetlag caused me to miss a lot of my pills.
I took them the next morning, and never missed any in a row except when I missed the last 3 active pills in a row and didn't bother taking them since my period was coming soon anyway. I feel really dumb and irresponsible about it, but I wasn't thinking about my pills and had unprotected sex around then too. My period came so I thought everything was fine.
When I went in for a checkup with the nurse practitioner who prescribed me the pills, she asked if I was taking them okay and I explained what happened. She told me that I could of ovulated, gotten pregnant, and had my normal period because of the timing that I messed up the pills.
A week after my period ended I fell off a train and lost my vision for a few minutes. (I've been lucky lately) I went to the hospital and they did a blood test for pregnancy, as one of their routine tests. I never asked for one. It came back negative.
My question is: Was it too early for the blood test to detect a pregnancy? I've been looking around online and can't find anything relating to the senario of missing pills, ovulating, getting pregnant, and having a period. All I can find are results based on your missed period, but I didn't miss mine. I've been trying to just to wait it out an entire month. The curiousity is overwhelming though.

Hi amyandrina, welcome!
I hope you have recovered from your fall.
