Breast pain and Yasmin.. suggestions?

Hi everyone! It has been a few months since I have been on this board, as I have been so busy with school and wedding planning. I hope everyone is doing well!

I have a quick question. I am on Yasmin, and while it has been excellent at controlling my breakthrough bleeding, I've noticed in the past two months (pack 3 and 4) that I have had extremely sore breasts while on the active pills. I feel like they are very swollen (although I know they are not, as all of my bras fit the same), and they are often sensitive to touch. The pain was much worse in pack 4 than in pack 3.

My problem is that I don't want to switch pills right now, because I am only a month from my wedding and I don't want to deal with any possible side effects of switching. So, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to relieve or prevent this pain? Just fyi, I am about to start my 5th pack of Yasmin, so I am aware that it could subside on its own, and could still be my body adjusting to the new hormones. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

i had the same problem with yasmin. it was a good pill for me, but the breast soreness was too much to take. it hurt even if my arm, brushed over them. i was on it for a year with no improvement, and i don't drink coffee or soda or any significant sources of caffeine. i ended up switching, but like you, it was just before my wedding that i just couldn't put up with it anymore. i just waited until after to switch. good luck.

AHA! I have never even thought of caffiene being the culprit.. Thanks Jill! I am going to try to cut down on it this month and see if it helps, if not I'll change after the wedding!

Buttercup, what pill are you on now? Has it helped?

Thank you both for the advice and have a nice Memorial Day Weekend!

i'm now on estrostep and it helps with cramping/bleeding and no breast soreness, but my moods are horrendous, i've been a beast to everyone. so the search continues.... good luck with the pill and good luck with your wedding!

Hope everyone's doing better today...I just started back on the pill (Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo) after a break of about 4 years and after only a few weeks, the breast pain is the worst s/e of them all. I'm just crossing my fingers it passes.

You might also try increasing your intake of water. The pill can make you retain water, and (counterintuitive as it is) increasing your water intake can help eliminate the extra fluid from your body, which reduces the swelling that can produce breast pain. You might also ask your doctor about taking a vitamin E suppliment. It's done wonders for me!
