Please help with Mirena IUD....

I had my baby on March 7th. I decided that I would have an IUD put in.

So I had the Mirena IUD put in on May 1, after I had it put in I had cramping and some spotting. My husband and I had sex just over a week after I had it put in, it was really painful. I went to the doctor and he checked it and said it all seemed okay, but if the cramping or bleeding got worse to come and we would discuss maybe removing it. Things seemed to improve after that, the bleeding stopped for a bit, then I got a bit of spotting.

But then on Wednesday this week I played baseball, and after the game I had some cramping, and then the next day I more cramping and bleeding, then today (2 days after playing baseball), I have even more bleeding and cramping. Do you know if this is normal? Should I be concerned? So far I'm not very happy with the IUD.... :o(

As the other poster said, bleeding and cramping are quite common in the first few months of the IUD.

I had a non-hormonal IUD.. I remember when I first had it put in and then went to the gym I had cramps for the first month or so. I just had to take it easy and not work out as hard for a while.

I was so sure that the IUD was coming out or that it had perforated my uterus. But, no such thing happened. I think it was just my body getting used to it.

The cramps went away and I was able to exercise normally after a bit.
I hope yours go away to. Give your body some time to get used to it before you decide you really hate it.

Thank you to everyone for all your advise. I decided that the cramping was far too much for me to handle so I had the IUD removed. I am now on the progestern only pill.

Now to my horror I'm bleeding heavily!! And there is a bit of clotting as well.

Does any one know how long the bleeding might last????

Although you went straight on the progesterone only pills (POPs) after having the iud removed, the hormones in the IUD weren't processed through the digestive system, and your body has probably associated the removal of the IUD as a drop in progesterone, causing your period.
