I have been on triphasil 28 for about 1 yr now. prior to that I was on seasonale for about 6 months. ( while on seasonale I gained 10 pounds. ) prior to seasonale I was either pregnant nursing or trying ot be pregnant and finally prior to that I was on Triphasil 28 for about 10 yrs with great success.

so now for my problem. I have noticed this time around with the triphasil I have become really irratable ( wanting to jump out of my skin ) and really short tempered ( I am surprised with all the yelling I do DSS hasn't come to my house yet. anyway this happens the day after I take my first pill of the last 10 active pill. then I tend to get a migrain on the first day of my period. so I am connecting this to the pill. there are different potency of hormones in the pills the last 10 have more than twice the hormone than any of the others. it is the hormone that starts with a L I can't remember tha name of it right now. anyway is there something better I could be taking with out causing all these issues. I hav e acall in to my dr but want to be prepared when they call back. Also when I was on these pills before children I had none of these problems. why now?? Thanks for any info you can give me. melinda

Hi,
I am sure that your body chemistry has changed over time. I don't know much about it myself. I do know that I was originally on this pill and loved it. Later in my life after different bc, I had more trouble with moods on t-28. I switched to a monophasic (same hormone level all 21 active days) and it made a world of difference for me. I used necon 1/35 which is a generic of ortho novum 1/35 if I remember correctly.
I also had very light bleeding on it, which I loved!
Good luck!

You can definitely see a change in your tolerance for certain pills after having children or after 10 years--your hormone production changes continuously, so even if it hasn't been that long, sometimes a pill that has worked for a couple of years will start causing side effects.

If you're all right with the first two phases of Triphasil but not the last 10 days, you might just ask about switching to Alesse.
