For those of us who have been using BCP's of any type for any amount of time, I ask you this, do you ever worry about the possibility of pregnancy? Is your faith in the method you use so strong that you never think about it?

Thanks!

I've been on the same pill for the past six years. The very first time I had sex (and he ejaculated) I was scared to death I'd be pregnant- and worried until I got my period-- which was right on time. Since then I've had full confidence in birth control pills. HOWEVER, I dislike the mood swings and low libido. I'm contemplating either a different pill or an IUD.

I get a little nervous sometimes, but I don't worry too much.

Planned Parenthood gives the failure rate for typical use of the pill as 8%, which is like 1 in 12 women getting pregnant each year while on the pill. Yes I was worried about effectiveness so I tried to make my pill use as close to perfect use as I could. I was extremely careful to always take it as close to on time as possible and I made sure to use a backup method if I was more than a few hours late with a pill or taking antibiotics. My husband and I were in agreement on how we would handle an unplanned pregnancy at least, but if an accidental pregnancy would have been devastating, then I might have used condoms in addition to the pill.

The first few months I was slightly nervous about it, but after that, I never really even thought about it. SO and I agreed along time ago what we would do in case of an unwanted pregnancy, and I think knowing how I would deal with it made it much easier to trust (if that makes any sense, lol).

Anyways, good luck!

I'm on the pill (1st time/13 months) and my SO uses a condom (always). It crosses my mind sometimes only as to say "what if...the condom brakes and the pill fails...or something like that." But thus far we haven't had any comdom accidents and I try to take my pill on the dot, on time every day, which I'm very good about. So I'm okay..IF I used the pill a lone I probably would stress it...because of no back up, if that makes sense. Just my input...

THANKS!

I have to admit that I worry, a lot. I'm in law school right now and unmarried so there's NO way I could possibly have a kid at this point in my life. I try and take my pill at the same time every day, and always ask my BF to pull out as well, but sometimes he doesn't and THEN I really freak out. I'm just a naturally nervous person, which doesn't help the situation, but if you are worrying then you are definitely not alone.

i am very good- most of the time- with taking my pill just about perfectly. i still worry, though. not to the point where i use a second method of bc. if that were the case, i'd just stop the pill altogether. but i could never take seasonale or anything that makes you skip a period for a few months. maybe one, but i need the reassurance sometimes of getting my period, just to make sure i'm not pregnant.

I think about it occasionally, but not very often. I've been on hormonal BC for about 7 years and never had so much as a scare.

I've been on Mircette for 6 years and I've never had a problem.
