Ring causing anxiety?

I was put on Nuvaring 3cycles ago and everything is going amazing. I am on it to help my endometriosis and so far--no pain! There was a bit of gassiness and weird periods but now everything seems to be smooth sailing.

EXCEPT--in the last month or so I've started having wicked anxiety, I'm not anxious person and have never had anxiety issues so this is very odd.

It's possible I'm suffering from a heart condition that my mom & grama have..I go to the dr tomorrow to find out. The heart condition makes your heart race sometimes and can feel like an anxiety attack..but my Mom said it should not be the 2-3x a day that I'm experiencing it..more like 2-3x a month.

I read ONE thread in a forum where a woman claimed her ring was causing anxiety, but she never followed up to know what it was.

I've read back on this forum but there hasn't really been anyting said about anxiety other than "am i pregnant" (my dh is fixed so that's not a problem)

Any help would be great and I'll be sure to update after I see the dr tomorrow morning.

Hi! I just got back from the dr and saw your reply! Good timing!

He is fairly confident it is not the ring doing it and has ordered a couple EKG's for me to undergo on Monday. I won't get the results for a few weeks he said and he's going to look into the heart condition my mom & grama have as well.

I'm feeling nervous all the time though, that fluttery stomach feeling so I have a hunch it's going to be anxiety..who knows.

ugh the ring is working so well! I don't want to give it up!

Thank you :) I will keep you all updated :)

Hi! I saw your post and wanted to let you know that I've been through the exact same thing! I started taking the Mircette BCP a couple of years ago. Shortly after, I woke up in the middle of the night thinking I was having a heart attack. It was SO scary. So, my husband rushed me to the ER. Once I got there, they did all sorts of EKG tests, blood work, xrays, etc. The ER doctor told me that I might have something called Mitral Valve Prolapse and made me an appointment with another doctor to get tested. So, I go see the other doctor and he tells me it's the birth control pills. So, I stop taking them and have to start taking an anti-anxiety pill to control the anxiety attacks. Once I stopped the BCP, I felt much better, but I still have trouble every now and then with anxiety. I recently started taking YAZ (I just started the second week), and I'm just praying it doesn't have the same affect on me. Hopefully, this one will work because I am tired of other methods.

So, you are not alone!!! I've heard numerous cases of birth control causing major anxiety and panic attacks...I've posted to several other boards and have gotten a lot of feedback. Let us know how it goes! Half the battle is knowing that there's nothing wrong with you, and that it's just the BCP. Relax...it will all be okay! (((HUGS))).

Thanks :) I really appreciate hearing everyone's input and stories. I am hooked up to an ECG right now, a portable one that will be on for 24hrs, then I'll get the info from it in about a week.

I haven't had an anxiety attack--or heart palpatations in about a week, of course, as soon as I see a dr about it right?

Man..I hope it's not the ring, but I guess I hope more that it's not my heart! Having the pain from endo gone is just so great, but I'd rather not feel like I'm having a heart attack.

Also, my breasts are as sore as early pregnancy lately..eesh. I'm on the 3rd cycle with the ring and the side effects are just WEIRD!

Keep you updated as I know more! Thanks!
